Associate Director, Patient Access Lead – Float – Massachusetts

Mid-sized biopharmaceutical organization focused on rare and specialty diseases

We are seeking a Patient Access Lead to join a growing Patient Services function and play a pivotal role in the launch and expansion of a high-impact Patient Support Program.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Patient Services – East, you will be a true patient champion, ensuring individuals can access critical therapies quickly and smoothly. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally across the Global Value & Access Team, partnering with patients, providers, and specialty pharmacies to deliver an exceptional support experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for patients and providers in your assigned territory
  • Manage patient enrollment into the support program, ensuring accurate and timely documentation
  • Conduct benefit verifications, prior authorization follow-up, and patient financial eligibility assessments
  • Coordinate with specialty and free goods pharmacies, as well as injection training partners
  • Monitor patient cases to ensure timely reimbursement and assistance renewals
  • Record and report Adverse Events and Product Complaints as required
  • Communicate program offerings, policies, and resources effectively to provider offices
  • Visit customers in the field to educate and troubleshoot reimbursement challenges
  • Stay current with compliance, OIG guidance, and patient services regulations
  • Analyze program data to identify service improvements and meet key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, trade, distribution, market access) and external partners (specialty pharmacies, vendors)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ equivalent experience in Patient Support Services
  • US product launch experience (rare disease experience highly desirable)
  • Direct interaction with top US specialty pharmacies and payers
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Experience using CRMs to track patient journeys from enrollment to ongoing access
  • Understanding of US legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration skills within pharma or biotech environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
