AL Solutions are looking for a Senior Manager within Business Development to work for a mid-sized Pharma with offices in London, America, and Japan. This is a great opportunity to work in a small and expanding team, covering all stages from scouting to transaction. We’re looking for a highly motivated hunter to network face-to-face.

In Europe, the main objectives are to:

  • Identify, evaluate and negotiate business development and partnering opportunities with European companies to grow our client’s business in the US.
  • Identify, evaluate and negotiate business development and partnering opportunities with companies everywhere in the world to grow our client’s business in Europe.
  • Travel once/twice a year to Japan & the US + frequent travel to Europe (2-3 times per month)

Responsibilities:

  • Screen, identify and evaluate new business development opportunities
  • Arrange and meet with new companies and those met at conferences
  • Perform the initial technical assessment and have the ability to progress to CA level
  • To have the CA signed with new companies
  • Conduct in-depth technical and scientific evaluation of selected business opportunities under the CA to identify key commercial issues
  • Draft non-binding term sheets and negotiate terms with possible partners
  • Identify the key negotiation points in definitive agreements and to take lead of the discussion with group companies and to summarise counter proposals
  • Develop and grow relationships with partners

Experience required:

  • Pharma/Biotech business development experience (5+ years’)
  • In-licensing experience
  • Solid BD experience, not competitive/strategic intelligence
  • In-depth technical and scientific evaluation skills
  • Therapy area – Neurology and/or Immunology
  • Experience in having accomplished business development transactions from ideation to execution of transaction
  • Broad network of Pharma/Biotech companies, venture capitalists, scientific organisations and academia.
